NAIA honors volleyball squad as ‘scholar team’

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has named the Bellevue University volleyball team as one of its 2007-08 “scholar teams.”

To be selected as a scholar team, a team’s players must collectively earn at least a 3.0 GPA. Coach Trish Siedlik’s Bruin squad earned a 3.33 GPA for the past academic year. On the court last season, the Bruins qualified for the 2007 NAIA National Tournament after winning the Region IV and conference tournaments.

The team opens its 2008 season Aug. 29 at the Concordia University Tournament in Irvine, Cal.
