Wesley House summer academy kids visit university

On Thursday, Bellevue University, in conjunction with UPS, will host a group of children participating in the Wesley House ACADEMIC Summer Academy. The Summer Academy, considered the Wesley House’s flagship program, stresses math, reading, geography and public speaking, supplemented by off-site trips that allow participants to observe academics in action in various settings – such as Bellevue University.

The group of roughly 20 Omaha children, ages third to eighth grade, will visit the main campus in Bellevue from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The kids will tour the university, hear from Volleyball Coach Trish Siedlik and view a presentation by Assistant Professor Lou Soukup on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, which is transforming the way the world does business. After its time at the university, the Wesley House group will tour the UPS facility near 27th and Q streets in Omaha.
