Bellevue University celebrates winter commencement

Nearly 600 people will participate in Bellevue University’s winter commencement this Saturday, Jan. 31. The ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Omaha Civic Auditorium. Of those participating, 211 are earning their master’s degrees; 363 are earning their bachelor’s degrees.

Bellevue University Board Member Pete Ricketts and his family are the winning bidders to purchase the Chicago Cubs from the Tribune Co., according to media reports on Thursday.

Board members inducted into Business Hall of Fame

More than 1,400 Bellevue University students, staff and alumni are currently members of the school’s official LinkedIn, Facebook and MySpace groups. Participation during the past six months has grown by nearly 900 percent.

Longtime softball coach Lehotak named athletic director

Bellevue University has named Ed Lehotak its new athletic director. Lehotak, the Bruin softball coach since 1997, has served as co-interim athletic director since September. Effective Jan. 1, Lehotak shed the “interim” label. He will still coach the softball team for the upcoming 2009 season.
