Hawks to speak on increasing role of private mental healthcare

Rhonda Hawks will speak at Bellevue University on Thursday, March 26, about the increasing role of the private sector in providing mental healthcare. Her presentation, “Behavioral Health Advocacy and the Importance of Public/Private Partnerships,” is 6:30-8 p.m., inside the Hitchcock Humanities Center.

The event is free and open to the public, and sponsored by the Bellevue University Graduate Clinical Counseling Programs.

Hawks is an expert on mental health issues and has spearheaded numerous mental health intiatives in Nebraska. She is a founder of the Behavioral Health Support Foundation; supplied funding for the renovation and start-up of the Lasting Hope Recovery Center(LHRC) in Omaha; and provides funding for numerous community-based behavioral health services. Hawks also serves on the LHRC Committee and Continuum of Care Sub-Committee, and serves as chair of the state’s Behavioral Health Oversight Commission.
